I am very skilled in creating a black monochromatic look, and it's also very easy since more than half my closet is black. However, I thought orange might be a bit more fun and, needless to say, much more colorful. I'm not sure if I pulled it off as well as this woman here, but keep in mind that I had to work with my less than model quality body and the clothes in my closet (as opposed to the model's
I kind of feel like the Great Pumpkin came a few months early this year — just in time for Labor Day.
My pants have that dopey little flare at the bottom, which I don't particularly care for, so I rolled them up. I'm thinking of cutting them off and hemming them, but that would mean that I'd have to make a decision.
This was definitely a fun look to put together. It would have been acceptable to wear to work — my office was business casual, and khakis and capris were acceptable summer attire — but I'm not sure if I would have been brave enough. But you never know ...
What do you think?
I always roll that length of pant too, Kari - I much prefer the rolled look. And I like monochromatic too; it does simplify getting dressed! You did the challenge very well, IMHO.
ReplyDeleteI like your outfit better than the model's. She looks like she's wearing the standard-issue orange jumpsuit from the Models' Prison. Can't you see that she's reaching into her waistband for her (designer) shiv? On the other hand, they have a bunch of really nice-looking mug shots.
ReplyDeleteNo need to cut and hem--why not just always roll? It's hard to say without seeing it both ways, but I think I like the way the cuff looks better than the way the shortened version would look sans cuff.
Orange is such a happy color. I'd wear it to work!
ReplyDeleteMonochromatic can be hard to pull off. Great job!!

You look so much better than the model!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a cool outfit! I used to have an all orange outfit when I was younger and I loooved it! Orange jeans, shirt, cardigan and boots! At one point I lost the cardigan and was super upset...
ReplyDelete@Patti -- Thanks. I felt so BRIGHT!
ReplyDelete@Sue -- haha -- You are too funny. Now I can't look at the picture of me without thinking that I'm in an orange jumpsuit. :-)
@Rebecca -- I never thought of orange as being a happy color but it is, isn't it?
@Kariyah -- Thank you! and thanks for stopping by my blog.
@Coastalharp -- thank you! I'm getting brave in my old age :-)
@Vanessa -- Thanks! It's funny what we remember from being a kid, isn't it? Thanks for stopping by my blog.
I love the look. I say go with the rolled up version. I'd probably switch out the top or at least the tank for maybe a similar shade of brown/khaki as the shoes and belt. Purely personal preference for that though.
