What I wore on .... Tuesday, December 27, 2010

Today was a bit better ... ok, a LOT better. I decided to have Triple AAA tow my car to the shop, which was probably one of the best decisions that I made in a long time.

What I wore on .... Monday, December 27, 2010

My rash of bad luck continued today. We had some snow last night -- not a lot, but it made a mess of the roads. And what made a bigger mess was the wind. I drove to work, and I was fine -- but then I pulled into the business park. There is an area on the drive where you go downhill and around a curve to the right. Well, instead of going to the right, my car kept going straight. Great. So I hit the curb -- shouldn't be that big a deal. It wasn't like I was driving very fast. Except now my wheel is wobbling. So then it became an ordeal. Call the insurance company: get a rental car. And my poor lil tank is still sitting in the parking lot at work. I hope it's ok tonight.

So, here is today's outfit:

should my vest be zipped up?

or left open? Should my pants be tucked into my boots? or should my pants go over my boots?

pants, Victoria Secrets
belt, thrifted
boots, thrifted (no brand, but I love them :-) I always wanted a pair like them, and they were a steal!)

Daily Wear ... Wenesday, December 22, 2010

Today is Wednesday, December 22, and it is only two days away from Christmas! Yikes -- I wish I was feeling it. And take a look at my body language -- definitely not feeling it.

paper roses

Alisa Burke shows how to make these paper roses here.

I'm not really sure what to do with them when I'm done, but it's one way to recycle newsprint, junk mail, telephone books -- anything really, that can be twisted and tied.

David and Robin Edgar shows how to make these snowflakes in their new book, Fantastic Recycled Plastic.

Directions are also given here

Esprit Cabane makes a lot of ornaments that I have seen before from different materials, so they have a completely different look to them. These very simple, but sweet, heart ornaments are made out of cardboard. You can find the directions here.I think they would be pretty if you used leftover red ribbon from Christmas.

They also make these stars out of plastic water bottles.

And I've seen these ornaments made from old Christmas cards, but not aluminum cans -- I bet they look nice.

Daily Wear ... Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Today was the office Christmas / potluck lunch. Lots of good food! Too much good food. I wanted to dress up a little since it was Christmas, and this is what I was able to pull together. Not bad considering I had a late night last night, and then had to get up early and cook this morning.

More Hand-Made Christmas Ornaments

Craft Info shows how to make a German paper star. These paper stars are also called Froebel stars

You need long strips of papers for this craft, but you can make them out of newsprint and magazines for an interesting look.

Artsy-crafty babe makes string ornaments -- I haven't seen these before. They sort of remind me of quilling.

What to do with ... bottle caps

Just saw the cutest necklace on Ecouterre, they called it a trashion statement. How cool of a word is that?! I'm really inspired to do something with my pile of bottle caps now, especially now that I have a friend at work saving them for me.

This necklace is part of a collection created by Vicki Sarge, and is made from recycled bottle caps on leather cord. You can get yours here.
